My rant?

Sometimes I feel alone. Of course I have friends, but none of them really understand. They have no idea what it feels like to be like me. I put on a mask everyday. They don't know I hurt. They don't know I strive to be "perfect". I know I'll never get there. I'm not good enough. I always will fail to be perfect.  What hurts the most is that nobody knows I feel this way.

I guess I feel alone because I'm not like them. I don't dress like them. I don't act like them. I don't know. I just need someone who understands me. I need someone to hear my silent screams. I don't know if it's even worth trying anymore. People don't care. They don't. If they did, they would see the pain in my eyes.
I just need someone to hold me and listen to me cry.

Beauty

To be beautiful, according to society and the media, you must have flawless skin, you must be skinny, and have perfect hair, you must have name brand clothes, you must wear the latest trends.  The media makes people think this because of how actresses and actors are, they have everything perfect. But what’s the point of having everything society says to be perfect if your personality is “ugly”? I think society has it all wrong; everyone is beautiful in their own special way
Also, I don’t think people should get judged based on what they wear, simply because, not everyone likes the same clothes. Everyone has their own style; everyone likes something different, although sometimes it can be very similar. I think it’s great that some people express their individuality with what they wear; it shows that they aren’t afraid to show themselves to the world. They aren’t afraid of what people have to say to, or about them.

Bullying

In the act of bullying, there are 3 different types of people; the Victim, the Bully, and the Onlooker, or Witness.

To the victim: You get bullied, but don’t let them get to you. Ignore them, tell someone. Remember when they call you names that you are amazing, no matter what anybody says. There will never be anyone like you, ever. Be yourself and learn to ignore those you try to bring you down.  All I ask is to tell someone let them know what they do to you; no matter how embarrassing, if you don’t speak up the bullying won’t stop.

To the bully: This has to stop. What’s the point of making someone feel like they shouldn’t be alive? Why would you put someone down just so you could feel good about yourself?  Could it be because they’re better than you at something? Maybe because they look better than you? Or could it be because they are smarter than you?  On the other hand, you could be in some much pain, and you just need a scapegoat. The scapegoat doesn’t have to be another person, and you’re only causing someone else pain.

To the Onlooker: Unless you stop the bully, you are just as bad as them. You know they were bullying someone, yet you failed to help the victim. Your kindness and help could save lives. You may think to yourself “It’s not my problem” but when you hear the victim has committed suicide it’ll be on your conscience. Have voice for the victims who are too scared to have their own.

Same Sex Marrige.

This morning as I woke up there was a religious program, the religion Christianity. The, I guess, host of the show asked the guy that was talking how he felt about “gays” his response to this question gave me hope for the future. He said, “gays are people just like you and I, there are human and deserve the same rights as us.” Then he was asked “should they have to right to get married like heterosexual couples do?” He replied “of course, if they love each other, then they have just as much right as anyone else to get married with the person they love. We have no right to tell anyone, heterosexual or homosexual, that they can’t marry who they love.”

When I heard this, I was astonished. A Christian man on a show saying that gay people should have the same rights as everyone, while all the other Christian people were saying it was wrong and horrible. That guy has a lot of guts, I have a lot of respect for him and I applaud him for speaking his mind instead of being controlled by his religion. Religion isn’t a bad thing, but it isn’t all that great either.  I respect every religion, but religions should let you think for yourself, not just say “this is wrong, this is wrong and this is right.” It really makes no sense. You have your own mind, feel free to use it.

Back to the point, why do we deprive “gays” of rights everyone should have? If you had a son or daughter, and they were gay/lesbian, and they fall in love with someone of the same sex, you would much rather them marrying the person they love even if they’re the same sex then someone of the opposite sex that they don’t care for.

So walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, imagine what it would feel like not being able to marry the one you truly love because it’s illegal. It would suck wouldn’t it? If your against same sex marriage then you should really re-think things. Because America is supposed to be all about equality for all, but we won’t let 2 people of the same sex get married? It makes no sense.

One world.

A couple of days ago, I saw two young girls, wearing the traditional “hijab” at Wal-Mart. For those of you who don’t know what a hijab is, it refers to both the head covering traditionally worn by Muslim women and modest Muslim styles of dress in general.

As they were shopping, they got many stares; most of them, being bad. I heard a couple remarks which upset me. Many of the Wal-Mart shoppers were saying comments referring to the 9-11 attacks. What upset me was that, these were little girls, about the age or 12 and 10 maybe. So, as I was shopping I saw these girls repeatedly, shopping just like anyone else. When, a lady caught my attention, she began to talk to someone by her that they were in danger because of these girls.

So I began to think to myself, why are these two innocent girls being so wrongly talked about just because they are wearing hijabs? If two American girls dressed in the clothes they typically dressed in and people, let’s say Mexicans, started to talk about them. If any other person heard them say anything bad they would stick up for the two American girls, but they question is, why?  Because we live in a society where if someone doesn’t look, dress or talk like us, it’s okay to talk about them.  Yet there is a lot of talk about ending racism, ironic right?

If we truly wanted racism to end, we wouldn’t care what a person wears, how the talk and look. We wouldn’t judge them at all. We would look at them with our hearts. We would ignore the visible attributes and would look at the attributes that really matter.

If we could all just learn to ignore the color of our skin, and our clothes, this world would be a much better place.

Your Perfect Girl.

I wish I could be the perfect girl you long for, the one you want to be with for the rest of your life. The one you want to hold at night, the one you love and cherish. How could I be that girl? I can’t, because you deserve a beautiful, smart, funny, the perfect girl. I know I can’t be her, I am nothing like that, I am not beautiful like other girls, and I don’t care much about appearance. I’m not smart, nor funny. So all I can do is wish. Wish for that one day you just might realize that I could be the one that makes you happy, because clearly, you make me happy; happier than I have ever been. You make me smile like never before, you make me laugh, you understand me. But you will never know my feelings, because, I know that you don’t feel the same way. I’ll just keep quiet, stand in the background and be there for you whenever you need me. We’ll just stay friends, although I love you more than that, I guess you can say that I’m “friend zoned.”

The Caged Bird

The caged bird, he sings his heart out; his songs pleasant to our ears. But why does he sing such beautiful songs?  He does nothing but sit in his cage all day long day after day. Every day the same view, nowhere to go, nothing to do. So why sing? He sings to show the world, that no matter what, he remains positive. Positive about being free one day and being able to fly where his heart desires.  He dreams of a glorious day where he is finally free.
What does the caged bird sing about? His dreams of course, when he can spread his wings and fly away, to a better place, where he won’t be trapped in a cage. The caged bird is wise, wiser than most human beings, which just whine and complain. His beautiful songs shall continue until he is free. That my friend is why the caged bird sings.
